WRECK A BUDDY * THE SOUL SISTERS * AMALGAMATED 839 * UK

Produced by Joe Gibbs and sung by Nora Dean - who also sung with The Soulettes, The Reggae Girls, The Upsetter Pilgrims and The Ebony Sisters - while she was with the Soul Sisters. I tend not to put the Slack stuff in the top category but this one has such a good rhythm (Little Drummer Boy) and the lyrics aren't delivered in that usual heavy handed innuendo style that so many Slack songs are, but, it must be said, like they are sincere. The record was very popular in the late 1960s with the Skin's - and I suspect especially with the sorts - as is evidenced by the fact that it was still being pressed up after the Amalgamated label had changed to the to the latter 'wide band' design.

Latter pressing.
