YOU HAVE BEEN GONE SO LONG * LAXTON & OLIVER * BLANK * JA

Produced by Alvin Ranglin You have Been Gone So Long is a fine vocal duet over a quality Early Reggae rhythm. Laxton Ford and Oliver St. David only had, as far as I can tell, two sides released in the UK they were Stay In My Arms and Wickeder, on Blue Cat 168; Stay In My Arms was also released on the Trojan LP Reggae Flight 404. Fortunately the above record has Laxton & Oliver written on it as there is probably no way I could have identified it, even though it has the title You have Been Gone So Long as handwritten tittles can't always be relied upon. Hand written titles are not always exactly the same as the title of the actual release, sometimes they maybe a shorthand, or a guess by a previous owner who takes what sounds like a strap line from the song, or even what was frequent in Jamaica during the early period of the Sound Systems a 'given' title, one that was the common name the song was known as by the audiences.
