Dandy Livingston, real name Robert Livingston Thompson, came to England aged 15 in 1960. After  working in a record shop owned by Leo Gopthal, the founder of Trojan records, he tried his hand at recording by making an ingenious double tracking of his own voice and offering the demos to a producer, as Sugar and Dandy, who was looking out for a male vocal duet.
