GIVE ME JUST A LITTLE MORE TIME * CHAIRMEN OF THE BOARD * INVICTUS 501 * UK
Give Me Just A Little More Time is a well crafted platter of sophisticated Soul with just enough quirkiness in lead singer, the late, great, General Johnson's voice to make the song an instant hit with Soul fans and the general public. Released in the UK in 1970 this was the first issue on the British Invictus label (seen here in a German picture sleeve, that looks more like a anti-smoking propaganda photo) which launched the label with a solid chart hit reaching the number three spot on the British top twenty in August 1970.
The label had instant Soul appeal to British Soul music fans who would have known of General Johnson with his group The Showmen and the classic early Mod anthem It Will Stand, and the label's owners/producers/writers: Holland, Dozier and Holland, from their glory days at Motown.
