Originally recorded in 1972 by The Chi-Lites as Living In The Footsteps Of Another Man and covered by a girl group The Promises that same year, this later cover is an easily overlooked Disco Soul track, Maryann Farra's voice isn't dynamic but sweet, and works well with this tight but fluid arrangement; definitely a grower. Originally known as Maryann Farra and the Genesis, her biggest hit was Never Gonna Leave You also on Brunswick.
The song has also some excellent Reggae cover versions from, amongst others, Dennis Brown and Delroy Wilson.
