1970

MAYBE * THE THREE DEGREES * ROULETTE 7079 * USA

A remake of the original recording by the Chantels, which was also, like its antecedent, produced by Richard Barrett; though this time around Barrett seems to have written the song, that is a bit unfair, to be denied credit a second time, on the writer Arlen Smith. All members of the group were from Philadelphia, their first line up consisted of Fayette Pickney, Shirley Porter, and Linda Turner; they were formed and managed by Richard Barrett and only recorded one record together Gee Baby (I'm Sorry) for Swan in 1963, after which the group went through many personnel changes with only (the wonderfully named) Fayette Pickney lasting out.
