Lionel Whitfield's Whit label started operations in Baton Rouge c1963, with the 700 series, this second 6900 series was distributed by Jewel records of Shreveport. Bobby Powell also recorded for Jewel, as well as Excello, Hep' Me, and (possibly) Cherokee.
