THINK (ABOUT IT) * LYN COLLINS * MOJO 2093-029 * UK
A James Brown production, music which was very much a Funk alternative to Disco for popular Soul venues at the time. Lyn Collins first recorded Unlucky In Love when she was fourteen years old; her first as a member of the James Brown institution was Wheel Of Life released on King 6373 in 1971. The above was her first release on James Brown's People label, and, being a song which dealt squarely with equality within a male / female relationship, chimed in well with the Woman's Liberation Movement that was part of Western consciousness at the time. In fact it could be said as one of the many factors that brought about such a consciousness.
