Al Green had dropped the e from his name when this the first of a run of solo hits, produced for Hi Records in Memphis by Willie Mitchell. Although through repeated public broadcast of this and his other hits his particular sound became somewhat familiar, when this first came out it sounded fresh and different, and appealed to both the Soul music fan and the general public.
