COOL RASTA * THE HEPTONES * HORSE 124 * GB

The Heptones a vocal trio, Leroy Sibbles, lead singer, with close harmonies from Earl Morgan and Barry Llewellyn, are considered to be the most influential vocal harmony group of the Rock Steady period with the records they cut at Studio One. They left Studio One in 1971 and recorded an abundance of fine songs for many of the best producers around, like:  Joe Gibbs, Harry J, Augustus Pablo, Harry Mudie, Geoffrey Chung, Phill Pratt, Rupie Edwards and many more. After a brief spell in Canada they returned to Jamaica and recorded the album Party Time for Lee Perry, which consisted mainly of re-cuts of their Studio One hits. Cool Rasta, a Harry J recording from 1976, shows they were still going strong ten years after their debut.
