Winston Hubert McIntosh, a.k.a. Peter Tosh, was born in 1944 in Grange Hill, and moved to Kingston after being abandoned by his father, a church preacher, he met Bob Marley while surviving in Trenchtown, and became one of the original Wailers along with Neville O'Reilly Livingston (Bunny Wailer). All his life Peter Tosh was totally uncompromising and fought for those who could not fight themselves and was a voice for those who had not the means, nor the ability to speak. Around 1970 the Wailers left Studio One, because of, principally, bad payment, and teamed up with Lee 'Scratch' Perry, although the Wailers recorded some of their finest material in collaboration with the Perry, the money situation remained the same as at Studio 1, in fact things were so bad that record rehearsal sessions that Peter Tosh did himself were recorded and then records were released of these recordings without him knowing! Most of these secret releases occurred in England, and many of them under the pseudonym Peter Touch.
