Born in the Western Kingston ghetto of Waterhouse 1957, Michael Rose is famous for his time as lead singer with the group Black Uhuru, (Uhuru is from the East African language of Swahili meaning 'Freedom') formed in 1973 with Puma Jones, The above was produced by Winston 'Niney' Holness, the song refers to the 1967 Columbia Pictures film comedy of the same name, Directed by Stanley Kramer. The story is of a young woman named Joey Drayton (Katharine Houghton) who brings home her fiancé John Wade Prentice (Sidney Poitier) to meet her parents. When the man turns out to be a distinguished black doctor, the 'liberal' parents (Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy [Tracy's last film]) are forced to reexamine their beliefs regarding interracial marriage.
