JAMAICA FESTIVAL '72 * JIMMY LONDON AND ROCKING HORSE * RANDY'S 527 * UK

Initiated in 1962, the Independence Celebrations were considered integral to national development as a way of giving Jamaicans a sense of who they are, and what their history and culture is all about. One of the highlights of the festival is the Popular Song Competition (before 1990 known as the Independence Festival Song Competition), which first took place in 1966. 

Jamaica Festival '72 was one of the entry's by Jimmy London & Rocking Horse for the 10th year celebrations, it never won, that honor went to Toot's and The Maytals with Pomps And Pride, but it is a sweet cut, sung with the same emotional feeling of a plaintive love song!.
