JOHNNY (TOO) BAD * THE SLICKERS * PANTHER * JA

The original version of The Slickers hit Johnny (Too) Bad produced by Byron Lee and released on his Panther imprint and given the number 01 suggesting that it was the first release on the label. According to Steve Leggett the groups identity is unclear but is likely to be a spin off of The Pioneers, doing some recording on the side (the name The Slicker does tenuously suggest that) and that the lead vocals are by Abraham Green a. k. a. Ras Abraham. The song became a massive hit after it was featured in the film The Harder They Come.
