ROME * LLOYD JONES * BULLET 429 * UK
Harry Mudie produced some classics in his time and this is certainly one of them, it's a song about a man who feels he has suffered in Babylon for too long and has decided to leave (Rome) and go back home. The rhythm and vocals were versioned, dubbed, toasted over, and sampled many times, and is still popular (I suppose the sentiments of the song are timeless) today, over thirty years since it was first recorded. Interestingly Harry Mudie's debut recording was Babylon Gone a.k.a. Going Home. This record might bear comparison with Lamont Dozier's Going Back To My Roots.
