DOUBLE BARREL * DAVE AND ANSEL COLLINS * TECHNIQUES 901 * UK
This record should probably be on the DJ page, but the rhythm is so familiar I always think of it as an instrumental, that's not to underestimate Dave Barker's Toasting, but the distinctive and instantly recognisable organ riffs of Ansel Collins seem unstoppable. It is likely to be one of the most well known records of the period as it was a massive international hit, and there were many versions and additional cuts to it, what isn't so well known is that it is reputed to be the first ever record the young drummer Sly Dunbar played on, if so it was a bit of an impressive start for him!
