HOT BUTTERED DUBS * C. ACE & THE INSWINGS * TROPICAL 026 * UK
Originally released on the his own Swing-A-Ling label in Jamaica Hot buttered Dubs has intro that takes its cue from Memphis Soul Stew, but its rhythm from Here I Am Baby originally recorded by Al Green and covered as a Reggae version by Al Brown, this is a hot buttered platter of Funky Reggae from Charlie Ace a.k.a. Valden Dixon.
Charlie Ace was a larger than life character that drove around Kingston, Jamaica in his colorful and highly 'modified' Morris 1000 van, that doubled as a mobile record shack and recording studio.
