I Shot The Sheriff was recorded at Harry J studio Kingston, this super laid back instrumental version of the Bob Marley song was produced by Michael Johnston and led by Jazz guitarist Eric Gale, with Reggae luminaries such as, Wailers bass player Aston 'Family Man' Barrett, pianist Keith Sterling, organist Leslie Butler, percussionist Uzziah 'Sticky' Thompsonand and Peter Tosh playing rhythm guitar.
I Shot The Sheriff was released in Jamaica on the Negril album, from where the credits on this record come from, and put out on Michael Johnston's Micron label, and for contractual reasons the album was not released outside of Jamaica.
