THE ARK * TREVOR AND KEITH * PUNCH 41 * UK
In this exhortation the duo urge all, but principally their Mama, to drop everything, which includes leaving "the baby crying in the crib", and go with them to The Ark. Of course it is not a literal translation of the act that Trevor and Keith are urging the listener to follow, but using the Ark as metaphor for, possibly, something like an exit or exodus from a way, or condition, of life, that with reflection can be said to be failing, wanting and destitute. The Jamaican artist and producer Lee Perry used the Ark in both the literal and metaphorical terms when he built his short lived but now immortalised Black Ark recording studio.
