AUGUSTUS IN KINGSTON * AUGUSTUS PABLO * FAY MUSIC INC 603 * UK
This is a difficult one for me I have no idea if Augustus In Kingston (definitely not it's real title) is by Augustus Pablo, although the A side of this record Fort Agustus Rock is a DJ version of the Melodica track by Pablo - the original rhythm is Errol Dunkley's as Life Is Sweet - this side, which is still on that rhythm, has a strong organ lead (Pablo?) but is a heart felt vocal with lines such as "A man is not always what he's supposed to be" delivered in a pleading, almost desperate voice. The production is said to be Bunnie Lee, although as Winston Edwards was a close friend of Joe Gibbs, the production could have been Gibbs, but Edwards did do some producing himself; some of which were issued on the DIP label. The record is reputed to be one of business man, producer and record shop owner Winston Edwards better selling cuts on his own Fay Music imprint. Winston Edwards Fay Music shop was located in New Cross S. E. London, which latter became the premises of another local music man Jah Shaka.
N.B. The real identity of this cut is probably well known out there, if anyone does know would they please email me
