BE TRUE TO YOURSELF * ALTON ELLIS AND LUNA FUNK * BIG SHOT 589 * UK

During this period Alton Ellis was restless, by rights he should have been a superstar but things in the Jamaican music business aren't always what they should be. The music he had made at both Studio One and Treasure Isle in the 1960s was of such a high and lasting quality that had things been any different his place in the cannon of Western popular music makers would  be assured and all due respect would have been his. Alas, it is precisely this harsh and corrupt situation that forces such genuine talent to carry on and always strive for better, we the fickle and undeserving audience perversely benefit from this by being presented with the fruits of the constant push to achieve what is, and should be, at the heart.
