GET TOGETHER * CARL DAWKINS * DUKE 93 * UK
J. J. Johnson (Sir J J ) was a juke box distributor before turning his hand to record production, his first label was just simply JJ records, later changing to Sir JJ. He had some success with big name groups like The Ethiopians and Kingstonians. In the early days of collecting records from Jamaica some collectors would confuse J. J. Johnson with Harry Johnson, thinking that, as is the case with many Reggae artists, that they were just different names of the same man. Carl Dawkins also had some success with J J Johnson, notably his recording of Satisfaction. The above track is an impassioned plea for co-operation and singularity of purpose from his fellow man, who in his words, are all "birds of one father".
