A LOVE I CAN FEEL * JOHN HOLT * COXSONE * JA

John Holt was born 1947, Kingston, Jamaica, at the age of 12 he could be heard regularly at various Jamaican theatres as part of Vere Johns talent contests, and by the time he was 16 he had cut his first single I Cried A Tear  for Leslie Kong 's Beverley's label. Between 1965 and 1970 he was lead singer with the Paragons who cut, for Duke Reid, some of the finest vocal group records on the Rock Steady rhythm, like: The Tide Is High, Riding On A Windy Day, and Only A Smile. While with the Paragons at Treasure Isle, he also cut some exceptional solo releases like Tonight, which he also did for Coxsone in 1968, and a beautiful duo I'll Be Lonely with Joya Landis. John Holt continued to make soulful records, and in the early 1970s enjoyed some fame with music of a more crossover appeal in Britain. In 1976, with the Roots track Up Park Camp that he a cut for producer Joseph 'Joe Joe' Hookim, he was back in the Jamaican charts. A Love I Can Feel is created from the 1963  cut I Want A Love I Can See by the Temptations; issued in the United States on Gordy 7015.
