DOOR PEEP * BURNING SPEAR * BAMBOO 50 * GB

"Door peep shall not enter this a holy land
Where wise and true man stand sipping from this cupful cup of peace
Not one shall enter
Not one"

I'm not convinced that all the fantastic B sides found on Coxsone Dodd's records are miscalculations, I just don't believe that a man with as much knowledge and experience as he has with this music could  not have realized when he heard the above that this was much more than the sum of its parts. There is no way that whoever first heard this sound, coming from anything like a decent speaker, let alone those at Brentford Road, could not help realizing that this is outstanding, this moves us on, this has living value. This is not just another nice Reggae record, it's not even another good Reggae record, this is one of the all time great Reggae records. Even now 33 years later its sound is undiminished, it is distinctive, fecund, and moving, from the opening dedication to the fading I -I- I- I.
