The Heptones: Leroy Sibbles, Earl Morgan and Barry Llewellyn, came together in 1965, originally calling themselves the Hep Ones, and first recorded for Ken Lack at Caltone records, before moving on to Coxsone Dodd's Studio One in 1966. I Shall Be Released was written and first recorded by Bob Dylan in 1967, and covered as a Gospel by Marion Williams for Atlantic in 1969.
