WICKED AND DREADFUL * NEVILLE ESSON * BLUE BEAT 37 * UK
Slow 'chopping' Boogie sound on this early Coxsone Dodd release, issued on the Worldisc imprint in Jamaica. Along with Owen Gray, Neville Esson was one of the big name vocalists in the late 1950s, and his backing band on this disc, the house band at Studio One; Clue J and His Blues Blasters were amongst the finest on the Island. It is Clue J (Cluet Johnson) who is widely regarded as the man who coined the term Ska.
