Like Jah Stitch and Big Youth, Winston James Thompson aka Doctor Alimantado cut his Deejay teeth on the Lord Tippertone Hi-Fi Sound System under the aegis of Jah Wise and Clive. He first performed as Winston Cool or Winston Prince and Youth Winston before settling on the more outrageous sobriquet Dr. Alimantado. Recorded and engineered by Lee Perry at The Black Ark in 1974 Best Dressed Chicken In Town (to give it its full title) is a truly unique DJ cut over the beautiful Ain't No Sunshine rhythm; a rhythm he had used previously on his Oil Crisis, samples of which he added to Best Dressed Chicken!
