SIC HIM ROVER (HOLD DOWN) * THE CRYSTALITES * SONG BIRD 1030 * UK

Yet another track where the voice over does not seem to have been identified, yet it is so vital to the cut that it has to be the center of gravity. The dialogue opens with an civil servant addressing a householder stating that he is the Census taker, and should he produce some identification? To which a disdainful mans voice replies, with ever decreasing restraint, "Oh so your one them man them call people yard and pry in them affair, an go them run go tell them a here ten pickney's" the, by now, irate house-holder then sets his dog on the census taker by uttering the immortal line "Sic him Rover" which is followed by the sound of ferocious snarling and barking, amongst which the pathetic voice of the census taker can be herd to wail. Fantastic, the music's good too.

NB, a 'Pickney' is the Jamaican word for a child, as in this old Jamaican proverb: Wha drap off pickney head drap 'pon puppa shoulder. [A father has often to shoulder his children's responsibilities.] Or: Sen' out pickney you' foot res', but you' heart no res'.
