BABY CAKES * LORETTA WILLIAMS * JOTIS 471 * USA
Like Watchdog this was another underground hit in London and Southern England at the time, though unlike the Dorothy Williams record Baby Cakes was released in the UK, not that this made it much easier to get a copy, in fact it has become in practice easier to buy a copy now, forty years on, than it was at the time! Joits was a label to mention back then and although it was talked about as Otis Redding's imprint few, if any, could have known that there was only four issues on the label! It was the above and Billy Young's Do The Sloopy that were the in records - as recommended by top Soul fans like Colin Welsh.
