Marie Knight, who had grown up in New Jersy, cut her first records just after WWII on Bob Thiele's New York based Signature label as Marie Knight with The Sunset Four. She went on to have a total of thirteen records released on Signature and Haven, another of Thiele's imprints, as with The Sunset Four, Sister Marie Knight and Marie Knight, before teeming up with Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and releasing records on the Decca label in 1947 both as a duo and solo, often with the Sam Price Trio.
