Written by Johnny Otis, and first recorded by The Royals in 1952 on Federal 12064, Every Beat Of My Heart was the Pips second outing on wax it was originally issued on the small Atlanta GA independent label: Huntom # 2510, and was also released shortly after the Vee Jay issue on Fury 1050. The Pips first record was Whistle My Love in 1958 on Brunswick 55048.
Issued at least three times in the UK during the 1960s and 70s, originally as by the Pips on Top Rank, and latter, when Gladys Knight had become more well known, as by Gladys Knight And the Pips. Both Top Rank and Ember were released with Room In Your Heart, the original B side, while the DJM issue had Queen Of Tears, a Vee Jay release from 1963, on the flip. (See below)
