HE WAS REALLY SAYIN' SOMETHIN' * THE VELVELETTES * V. I. P. 25013 * USA

Founding member Bertha McNeal formed The Velvelettes in Kalamazoo during 1962 while she was at the Michigan State University, the group cut one record for the I.P.G. label There He Goes before signing to Berry Gordy's Motown company. Released in December 1964 He Was Really Sayin' Somthin' was the groups follow up to the beautiful Should I Tell Them, and had another Motown group, The Andantes, backing up on vocals.

The above copy has the miss-spelt 'Somthin' in the title, later changed to 'Somethin'; it was the last Motown record to be released in 1964 in the US and was issued in the UK two months later in February 1965 (see below).
