1970
I DON'T CARE * AZIE MORTIMER * OKEH 7337 * USA
Scheduled for release on the 17 June 1970, unbelievably, this fantastic Soul scorcher was the penultimate recording on OKeh, and possibly Azie Mortimer's second to last also. It is possible that she had one further recording on Bloomie after this bringing a decade of recordings to an end, her first was for Big Top in 1960. The OKeh imprint was started in 1918 by German / American Otto K. E. Heinemann, hence the initials OKEH (it was all in capitals at first with a picture of a native American in the o!) it had been running of and on for over fifty years releasing some of the most important Popular music in the West, including King Oliver and Louis Armstrong and some of the greatest producers and arrangers in African American music from Clarence Williams to Carl Davis.
