Betty Everett was born in Greenwood, Mississippi in 1939 and died August, 2001. She moved to Chicago (the cradle of Soul) in 1957, where she recorded songs on some of the local labels such as C.J. and Cobra. Apparently I've Got A Claim On You was issued first on another Chicago independent, Leo Austell's, Renee label, then on: One-Der-Ful. Details on such 'major' artists like Betty Everett are still a bit foggy, which shows we are some way from a definitive Soul discography, although Bob McGrath's excellent thesaurus has taken us a long way there.
