A Sansu recording USA, Ride Your Pony was first released in the UK on Action 4535, this latter Charly issue is from 1980 a time when 1960s Soul and Reggae music was enjoying a surge in popularity to a new generation.
Originally recorded by Lee Dorsey in 1965, the song makes for an irresistible dance cut, both versions are top cuts Lee Dorsey sings it straight and hard while Betty Harris' version is, if not tongue-in-cheek, is certainly a little more light hearted.
