SPINNIN' TOP * THE ORLONS * PLANET 117 * UK
Released on Calla 113 in the US, Spinnin' Top was different from the songs the group had been recording in the previous years at Cameo, most notably by the absence of Steve Caldwell's intervention with some often repeated word or phrase. Although this is a fine up-tempo sophisticated New York sound Soul cut, it failed to make much impact on the Soul scene in the UK at the time. This could be because record buyers were expecting something different from the group, or being released on a small independent label (not known for Soul records) it was never given much promotion.
