Erma Franklin came within an ace of being the first female to record for Berry Gordy Jnr.! but, it would seem, it was her sister Aretha who got all the lucky breaks in the recording industry; she did finally record, on the next side of this record, I Get The Sweetest Feeling one of the songs she would have recorded for Berry Gordy, but not for him and not in the late 1950s. Produced by Carl Davis and Sonny Sanders Erma's tough version of Jackie Wilson's Whispers was to be her last release, although she did sing at many live concerts and shows, primarily with her sister.
