YOUR GONNA' LOVE MY BABY * BARBARA McNAIR * TAMLA MOTOWN 544 * UK

Barbara McNair was born in Chicago but grew up in Racine, Wisconsin, she moved back to Chicago to study music at the American Conservatory Of Music. Her career led her in several directions including film, television, Broadway shows and singing in night clubs. Her recording career began in 1958 for the Coral label and was pitched at a M O R audience, yet some of her recordings appealed to Soul especially those she recorded at Motown. Your Gonna' Love My Baby is a classy Soul song, partly written by McNair, further evidence of her prodigious talent, and produced by Berry Gordy Jr.; who was hoping to enlarge Motown's image by adding a M O R singer to its profile. The song is Barbara McNair's most famous cut in the UK and her only single to be released there, though she did have two EPs of her Coral and Warner Brothers sides, and a single of her duet with Billy Williams.
