The song is actually Don't Play That Song (made famous by Ben E. King) and "Darling I love you" being a line in the song, is used as the title to disguise it's true identity.  When Derrick Morgan cut the song two years later he didn't feel the need to pretend it was something other than what it was, even giving the writing credits to B. King! (see below).
