DRY UP YOUR TEARS * BRUCE RUFFIN * TROJAN 7704 * GB
Produced by Leslie Kong this was the fourth issue in the second series on the mighty Trojan label, like the Blue Beat label before it the word Trojan became synonymous with a music, a style (Skinhead) and an attitude for the youth in Great Britain during the late 1960s.
This particular artist, and therefore his records, came in for some criticisms at the time because it seemed that he had just gratuitously copied the name of the lead singer of the Temptations from the American Gordy label. The song was later cut at Channel One and released in a 12" version.
The words "Dry up your tears" are spoken in Juliet's chamber during act five of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
