GROOVY SITUATION * KEITH ROWE * UPSETTERS * USA
As the duo Keith and Tex, Keith Rowe first recorded with producer Derrick Harriott. The due parted company in 1970 and Keith Rowe emigrated with his parents to America where after a stint out of the music business Keith Rowe recorded again and set up his own Kebar label. Then in 1972 he again left the music business for the army, during his time in the army he recorded "Out Of Many We Are One" for a competition in 1975, wining him a ticket to Jamaica! It was on his unexpected visit back to his home town of Kingston that he met up with his old boyhood friend and neighbor Lee Perry, who had recently opened his Black Ark studios. It was there and then that Rowe cut, along with Living My Life, the above Groovy Situation a Soul song that was originally recorded by Gene Chandler in 1970 for Mercury records. It's another example of the versatility of Lee Perry who is popularly thought of as an eccentric producer.
