Ottis Dewey (Slim) Whitman Jr, was born in Tampa in 1924. He had a stutter and was ridiculed by other children, he married fifteen-year-old Geraldine Crist, a preacher's daughter in 1941 and worked it hard as a meat packer, just before the attack on Pearl Harbor. The above is a B side (a hit in it's own right) of the first British pressing of the record in the new 45 RPM format in 1954, it was first issued on the same label with the same catalogue number as a 78 RPM in 1952.
