Oakie Boogie was written as a Western swing dance song in 1947 by Johnny Tyler and originally released by him on RCA 20-2290, it was covered by Jack Guthrie on Capitol and became a hit for him that same year. Ella Mae Morse cut a version five years later and British band leader Ted Heath also cut a version in the mid 1950s. Seen here on it's first British release from 1976 on the Record Mart label Hank Swatley's Rockabilly version is from 1959 and was originally released on Aaron 101.
