RED CADILLAC AND A BLACK MUSTACHE * WARREN SMITH * CHARLY 1006 * UK
This is a difficult one for me to trace its provenance, although the Charly (sic) label credits it as a Sun original, I don't think it was ever released on that label, though it is certainly a Sun recording. In the Book Catalyst by Escott and Hawkins, the record gets a mention "There was a great Sun influence in the Imperial sound of Bob Luman, a Country artist, working previously in the Shreveport area, who recorded the Billy Emerson number, previously recorded by Billy Riley, Red Hot (Imperial8313), and also Red Cadillac And A Black Mustache (Imperial 8311), which Warren Smith in turn took from him.". All said and done it's a terrific laid back Bluesy, Country track . . . especially if your of the jealous/suspicious nature.
