TONGUE TIED JILL * CHARLIE FEATHERS * CHARLY 116 * UK

Tongue Tied Jill was originally released on Meteor 5032 (apparently the very first pressings had reversed labels) it was his third single release. Born in Holly Springs, Mississippi in 1932, Charlie Feathers debut was for the Flip label in 1955, his next was for Sun, then came the Meteor cut above, followed by one on King in 1956, then nothing until 1971. Feathers had nothing at all released in the UK from the 1950s, the above Charly EP was his first British release and that was in 1976!

Charlie Feathers, despite the paucity of releases by this talented singer, is credited by Rock & Roll and Rockabilly fans has having been a big influence of other Rockabilly / Rock & Roll acts although the wild and eccentric Tongue Tied Jill, probably his most famous track, could well have been directly influenced by 'Manhattan' Paul Bascomb's Mumbles Blues!
