WILD WEEKEND * THE ROCKIN' REBELS * STATESIDE 162 * UK

Adapted from a radio jingle Wild Weekend, a Rockin' guitar led instrumental, was originally released on Marlee records in 1960 with some local success, but, proving that some records are of their time an ahead of their time simultaneously, when it was reissued two years latter on Swan records #4125, it went to #8 on the national charts and was also an international hit.

The group, from Buffalo, New York, were: Mickey Kipler-Tenor Sax, Jim Kipler-Lead Guitar, Paul Balon-Rhythm Guitar and Tom Gorman-Drums, originally called themselves the Rebels, but changed to The Rockin' Rebels to avoid confusion with Duane Eddy's Rebels who were popular at the time, they also cut records for Marlee as The Buffalo Rebels.
