Derek Martin first recorded with The Pearls on Aladdin in 1954, he recorded Daddy Rollin' Stone as a member of Jimmy Ricks & The Raves on Atco 6220 in 1962, it was also released on Festival 25004 the same year. This was his debut release under his own name, and the only issue by him on the Crackerjack imprint, although he had two on the parent label: Sue. The song was written and first recorded by Otis Blackwell in 1953, who also wrote such outstanding songs as: Fever and Great Balls Of Fire. Daddy Rollin' Stone was also covered by Johns Children, the Who and Johnny Thunders.
