RAINDROPS * DEE CLARK * TOP RANK 570 * UK

When compared to his Hey Little Girl this record shows the versatility of Dee Clark, who's recordings covered material from Rock & Roll to Soul. While Hey Little Girl, a R&B influenced and up-tempo love song, has him singing in a Southern 'down home' style modern Chicago Blues idiom, to which he seems perfectly suited, on the above, a 'big city' orchestrated mid-tempo love song, he is perfectly at home with the emerging big production styled Soul idiom. Originally released on Vee Jay 383 in the USA, this one was a big, big, Modernist favorite.

The song was covered, in a slightly altered form, by male singing group The Personalities in 1965 and issued on the Ska Beat label UK (see below) coincidentally the A side of this record is Hey Little Girl but it's not the same as the Dee Clarke song!
