He sang with a group called the Jewels, then the Rollers, he then formed his own group the Souls. Al Wilson signed with Johnny Rivers, Soul City label in 1966. The Snake was his first big hit for Soul City, both that and Do What You Gotta Do topped the R&B charts. He went on to even more commercial success with the original version of Show And Tell, and La, La Peace Song in the early 1970s.
