Marie Knight, a.k.a. Madame or Sister Marie Knight, recorded for most of the early 1950s as a Gospel singer, her first R&B record was You Got A Way Of making Love recorded for Decca in April 1954, she continued to cut both religious and secular songs side by side and sing both on her live tours with the big R&B acts of the day. I Thought I Told You Not To Tell Them was originally released on Battle 253 (her only release on the label) and turns up on the above EP possibly a bootleg issue, (minus its original cover) that was produced by the 'Kool Kats' fan club, Sweden. The other three tracks on the disc are Let The Boogie Woogie Roll and Deep Sea Ball by the Drifters and Big Bess by Louis Jordan.
